You know how you never want to go backwards and buy something of lesser quality than you've already experienced? And so it was with the B94, my budget was stretched to almost breaking point but I use it every day and i'm not the lightest (220lb on a very good week!), so I wanted something meaty. And that's the one thing I love about this cycle. The build quality is excellent but no more than should be expected in this price range. Now to the dissapointments...1) The front support is not very wide. Therefore, any wobble resulting from a vigorous workout is not mitigated to the extent that it should be by this, error (IMHO) of design.2) This thing has speakers. Why? why? why?! They are worse than useless, they sound awful, you'd probably get better on a $5 radio. Ridiculous. It annoys me when they add a feature and then make it so awful as to render the whole thing pointless. I will never use them and would much rather the, admittedly small, expense had gone in to the bike. It also has a fan which is pretty pathetic too.3) The display is great in what it shows you but it is very bright with no adjustment. Hence, I have to place the manual that came with the bike over it when i'm using it! So, apart from the odd glance, not great. I suppose I could try and get a tan off it!4) I left the worst til last. This bike has 20 resistance settings. Now, i'm 44 and not in the best shape but first time out on this bike I could ride comfortably on 16-17 for 15 minutes and even got it up to 20 without that much effort. So, for anyone serious about their exercise. steer clear. How crazy is this? Surely it wouldn't have been too difficult to engineer a bike where the highest resistance is beyond 90% of people. For a bike at this price range and clearly aimed at the committed cyclist, this lack of capacity is simply unforgivable. Even with all this I kept the bike, partly because it would be such a pain to send it back, have you seen how they pack these things?! but also, I cycle watching the tv or listening to music, so most of the time 20 is okay but i will never get a sweat up in quite the way I did on my $300 cheaper one! I'm a member of a gym, haven't been in a month, but I am a member so I figured for the times I want a good workout I could use the one's there. Not really acceptable when you consider what the B94 costs. We should be living in times when we can call the manufacturer and say 'take this away please it's not adequate for that money'. If I could have done that I would but considering it's such a pain to send something like this back and I do like the build, I kept it anyway. Be warned.I like this bike. It's worth what I paid for it. Having said that, it just barely misses the mark in a bunch of ways. First of all, there is no way to unpack it to inspect without destroying the box. And, as Sole has no physical showroom, there is no way to see this bike in person without buying and destroying the box. That is a major stupidity. Then, when you do peel away and destroy the layers of packing, the very first part to assemble is the rear support cover – and the screws provided to attach it are the wrong thread – they don’t go in. What an awful introduction to a purchase of this size. If you manage to calm down and get past all that, the rest of the assembly is relatively smooth as exercise equipment goes. The bike has a relatively powerful top-computer / display as far as sub $1K upright bikes go. It’s right in the sweet spot of reasonable price and good features. Some comments in no particular order• This is a bike for people who need 20-60 minutes of cardio a day, not freaks who wear spandex and want to destroy all cars and bike around everywhere. The resistance levels are just right for that.• I’m a big guy – the adjustable seat support needed to be reversed to fit back far enough to put my butt and my legs/feet at the right distance. I’m positive that reversed plate will someday break from metal fatigue and I’ll need to get another. Having said that, the saddle it comes with is just fine. No idea why people have complained about that – my big rear-end fits just fine• The two user-programmable buttons are cool – set your own workout. The downside is that there is no setting to allow “cool-down” after the workout, so setting a minute or two of lower resistance to get your heart rate back down is then calculated into the averages at the end. Bummer.• The fan is nice but not very powerful. The speakers are handy but do not produce very rich sound. It’s a soundtrack to pace your workout – nothing more.• The power switch described in the instructions doesn’t exist. It now uses an idle timer to shut-down. It’d have been nice if the manual said that somewhere.• The gauges on the top display aren’t adjustable. I’d really prefer MPH to RPM, but there’s no way to change it.Bottom line – this is a great bike for someone who is looking for a reliable, daily workout and wants better than a couple of hundred buck special, but isn’t prepared to spend for gym quality systems. I’d buy it again knowing what I know.I received my new bike this week and assembled it this morning. The bike was a bit difficult to remove from the carton, given its weight and the way it was secured inside. I ended up cutting the packing off around it, which became pretty funny after I located the manual inside and read (on page 5) how to open the carton. Ah well.Unfortunately, the bike was damaged in shipping, shattering one of the wheels and bending the mounting bracket. Customer service was easy to reach and they quickly agreed to send out a new wheel, but unless I am willing to go through a return or perhaps disposal process, there's nothing for me to do but try to bend the bracket back into shape. I'll see how that works out after I get the new wheel. Sadly, though, it feels a bit like I payed full price for a new machine and got the banged-up floor model instead. Fixable damage I'm sure, but still, one expects new stuff not to arrive broken. Especially at that price.Everything got a whole lot better when I had it assembled and finally rode the bike. It adjusts nicely for a comfortable riding position and changes resistance so smoothly you hardly notice. The seat seems a bit uncomfortable, so I may switch it out for another bike seat, but it's a standard post, so you can do that. The heart rate strap worked well and the offered program appear to suit my needs. The built in fan is kind of sweet. Haven't tried the speakers yet. A definite step up from my old Nautilus bike. All in all, it looks like a great bike. I only wish I could have gotten an undamaged one.It took my husband maybe an hour tops to assemble and it’s very sturdy. I use this everyday, the preset programs and customization are awesome. Seat is comfortable and Bluetooth speakers and heart rate monitor work great. 100% worth the money.
